Technical Scrum Master
Position Specific Description
This position of Scrum Master plays a crucial role in the agile development realm for infrastructure related technology, products and services. The role provides coaching and demonstrates thought leadership on Agile principles to the team. They embrace the servant leadership philosophy and guide the team toward effective practices.
- Facilitating Scrum Processes: Guide and facilitate all Scrum rituals, including daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Ensure that the Scrum framework is properly followed by the development team, product owner, and stakeholders. Provide flexibility for teams needing to adapt to scrum processes.
- Support the development team in achieving their sprint goals by removing any obstacles or impediments that they may face. Encourage collaboration, self-organization, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Act as a coach and mentor to the team, ensuring they understand and adhere to Agile principles and practices. Help them in adopting Scrum practices and resolving conflicts within the team.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with stakeholders, including product owners, managers, and executives, to ensure their requirements and expectations are effectively communicated to the development team. Facilitate communication and maintain transparency between the team and stakeholders.
- Scrum Process Improvement: Continuously identify and implement improvements to the Scrum process and practices. This includes analyzing metrics and feedback to optimize team productivity and delivery.
- Act as a mediator in resolving conflicts or issues that arise within the team. Facilitate healthy discussions and encourage a collaborative problem-solving approach.
- Facilitate Agile practices and frameworks beyond Scrum, such as Kanban or Lean, when appropriate. Lead the team to understand and adopt these practices to continuously improve their effectiveness.
- Financial forecasting, processing invoices and mitigating variances and risks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: PMP, CSM, CSPO, PSM, CSP, PMI-ACP, SAFe SPC, or ITIL.
- Expertise working in technology/ software development, with a focus on Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or Lean.
- Experience in maintaining team performance metrics, educating the Scrum Team on agile practices, driving productivity improvements, and championing quality and technical excellence.
- Strong leadership and coaching abilities, with a demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to identify and resolve conflicts and facilitate decision-making in a collaborative and consensus-driven manner.
- Understanding of IT infrastructure components such as networks, servers, storage systems, and cloud services.
- Passion for learning and continuous improvement, with a growth mindset and a willingness to explore new approaches and technologies.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Organizes and facilitates work planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, and sprint and release planning
- Facilitates collaboration for both internal and external teams, resolving conflict, removing impediments, and reducing external dependencies
- Coaches team members and stakeholders in preparation for Scrum ceremonies and events and in goal attainment
- Coaches team in Agile sizing techniques, makes appropriate and realistic commitments, and works closely with Product Owners
- Uses the Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) tool to prepare, communicate, and share team metrics and delivery results
- Creates a product roadmap, coaches the writing of value-driven user stories, features, and epics, and maintains a well-refined backlog
- Provides regular feedback to the Agile Transformation Team about new insights and lessons learned from team experiences
- Embraces servant leadership and displays behaviors that come with the key mindset shifts associated with being Agile
- Keeps informed and educated about industry trends concerning Agile methodologies
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
